• Are you as tired of the "silent epidemic" label of brain injury as BABIS members are? Then come lend your presence and voice to the Fifth Annual "Heads Held High" Brain Injury Awareness Walk
• The 5th Annual Heads Held High Walk to promote brain injury awareness will be held on October 13th at Jamaica Pond, Boston will be from 1o-2. It should be a fun day! Feel free to bring your friends and family!
• The "Heads Held High" Walk was organized by the Boston Acquired Brain Injury Support Group (BABIS).
• The address of where the walk will start is:
507 Jamaicaway in Jamaica Plain, MA
[Click for Directions] (It is across from 60 Pond Street).
• We will meet in front of the boat house (look for brightly colored signs and balloons!).
• Each year the BABIS "Heads Held High" Walk tops its success from the previous year. We measure success in the number of survivors and supporters who come to participate fully and put a human face on brain injury, in all the "personal best" records set by members, and by the funds raised to support the mission of BABIS
and BIA.
• We are selling long sleeve Heads Held High T-shirts and baseball caps for $10. We are also accepting donations. All proceeds will go towards BABIS and helping to promote brain injury awareness.
• Last Year's Heads Held High Walk was a great success! 350 involved survivors, family members, professionals, and friends who participated in the fourth annual "Heads Held High" Brain Injury Awareness Walk, held on October 14, 2006 contradicted the image of brain injury as the "silent epidemic."
• One time around the pond is 1.5 miles long. There will be some creative arts displays and plenty of chances to win raffle prizes. Entertainment and light sandwiches will also be provided.
• We are looking for volunteers to help promote awareness throughout your local communities in the month of September. If interested in helping, please call one of us at the numbers below so we can get you some posters and extra registration forms (to help collect money) to you.
