Did you know?

• Average attendance per meeting: 60 – 75 people, including survivors of ABI and their family, friends, caregivers and guardians as well as professionals from various disciplines (LSW, ST, OT, PT, rehab counselors, vocational counselors, psychologists, art therapists, mental health counselors, etc.)

Number of people on mailing list: 321 individuals/families (60% increase from 2002)

Reminder calls or e-mails are made to members before each meeting by a volunteer of BABIS.

• The WWW.BABIS.info website was developed in 2003 to increase our outreach and member involvement.

We recognize that when one person has a brain injury, everyone in their family is affected. Therefore, we now offer a family support group at the same time as our monthly sessions.

Every member is sent a quarterly newsletter  with information on the group and upcoming meetings. Reminder calls or e-mails are also made to members before each meeting.

The Planning committee meets one time per month to coordinate speakers, food, mailings, etc. It is made up of survivors, family members and professionals of various disciplines.

         Maureen Butler
